Fake, fake, fake, fake...

Talking about embarrassing moments.
A year ago an Israeli ad agency came up with a TV ad for a communication company comparing its speed with that of a cheeta.
Lo and behold it's 2013 and Sketchers releases a teaser with the exact same idea.
Well... you be the judge of that

Don't panic

Here we go again...
You all remember that great Belgian campaign with the red panic button. For those who don't, here it is:

Now they've done it again with the Dutch as their patsies...

A toy legacy

An homage is "a show or demonstration of respect or dedication to someone or something" (Wikipedia) usually a reference to something from the past. An homage is rarely something that "copies" the original. The one I am referring to and about to show you, copied the original perfect to the T but did so in the most original manner and even got the blessing of the original creator. The original ground-braking animation movie by PIXAR "Toy Story" came out in 1985 and almost over night became the inspiration for animation movies to follow.
I think this live action version is beautifully and respectfully done, and will be appreciated by Toy Story lovers everywhere regardless of age.
Enjoy...

Working 9 to 5?

It's officially next week for me, why? I'm at the office. I know it is very strange due to the fact I am V.P. here. But I have decided that as one I can't ask my people to do stuff I am not willing to do myself. So it's Saturday evening around 20:00 and I am at the office with a few of my graphic artists as a solidarity act. I am not writing this in order to blow my own horn (although every man wishes he could) it's just that I have some free time :-)
Now seriously, I am writing about this because it seems that in advertising one of the things that never changes is the lack of respect for the workers personal time. "The client needs it now", "If you don't finish this tonight the client won't pay us", and so on and so forth. Time has taught me that it is all about you educating the clients instead of letting them run the show. True, there will always be unexpected projects and problems which will makes us work strange hours, but still...

Couple up I'll pick you up in 10

Thinking of brands (as I always do) this rainy morning one in particular comes to mind. Noah of course. Noah is a strong and multinational brand and has been so for thousands of years. The first thing you think of, almost all over the world when there's hard rain, is Noah.
Now there could be number of reasons for that. Number one is the fact that he was probably the first and only one in his field. Another is that Noah has proven to be very PC and aimed for a target audience built from both men and women, or gay couples ("went in two by two"). The last is the fact that his product kept its promise, the arc of course.
Now is it a Jewish thing? I mean is it a truly successful brand or simply a great campaign? Is there really a difference? I for one believe (strange choice of words I know) that it's a great campaign, and I am also sure that if we put it to the test in a Non aided awareness survey Noah will prove to be even bigger than McDonald's.

Great minds...
