Truth be told
Good morning, sir, how are you? Thank you, please, you're welcome, sorry, sure, enjoy, have a nice day, of course, go ahead, my pleasure... I forgot what normal feels like.
I posted this on facebook a couple of weeks ago, a few days after arriving in NYC, because you usually notice these things when you travel. And yes, it makes it sound like where I'm from is the most unpolite place in the world.
But let me sort things up for you. It's true, us Israelis are rough. My fellow countrymen are for lack of any better word - crude. Maybe it's because we live our lives in a state of war or the fear of one. Or maybe we're simply a young nation and the evolution of culture takes time. But to be honest it doesn't really matter why. It's time to evolve. Don't get me wrong, there are amazing things here in my wonderful city of Tel-Aviv. We have amazing weather, beautiful beaches, superb food, great nightlife, cool people and it's really a great place to live (expensive but great). But... we can improve.
Now things are improving, all the time, but still I just wish it wouldn't take so long.

ReplyDeleteGreat sign....unfortunately (and as a native New Yorker, I have the right to criticize), I bought lot's of coffee in NYC this past week, and the happiness I encountered was with the bagel that accompanied the coffee, but not the coffee....
